Classes and booking

How is an online language class run?

Classes are live video sessions on the Skyroom platform — just like a real classroom, with direct two-way contact with your teacher, file sharing, exercises and teaching tools. All you need is a stable internet connection and a phone or computer.

Can I try an online language class for free?

Yes. On TeachyTalk you get 3 free trial classes with different teachers, so you can see how each of them teaches before you make your final choice.

How do I choose the right teacher on TeachyTalk?

In the TeachyTalk teacher listing you can filter by language, level, price, accent and teaching style, and pick the best teacher for your online language class.

How does a private language class differ from a group class?

In a private class the teaching is fully tailored to you and the teacher focuses on a single learner. That makes progress faster and the quality of teaching higher than in group classes.

Who are private language classes suitable for?

They suit people who are planning to emigrate, preparing for exams such as IELTS and TOEFL, or wanting to build up their speaking more quickly.

Fees and payment

How much does an online language class cost?

There is no single fixed price — it is set by each teacher’s level, specialism and experience. The advantage is that every teacher’s exact price is shown on their profile before you book, so you can choose to suit your budget.

Is payment on TeachyTalk secure?

Yes. Payments are made through licensed, reputable gateways and your bank card details are never stored by TeachyTalk.

Teachers and partnership

How do I sign up as an online language teacher?

Simply register on the site, complete your teacher profile and specify the languages you can teach. Once you are approved, you can activate your own online classes.

Do I need a certificate to teach languages online?

An international certificate counts in your favour, but it is not a requirement. Command of the language and the ability to teach are the criteria that matter most.

What commission does TeachyTalk take on language classes?

TeachyTalk’s commission is 20% of each class fee. The remaining 80% goes to the teacher, who can earn more from teaching online by taking on more classes and more learners.

Can I teach part-time?

Yes — teaching is entirely flexible and you set your own class times.
