This page sets out, plainly, the terms teachers work under on TeachyTalk: what we expect of your teaching, the rules on scheduling and cancellations, and how payment is settled.

    Cancel or move a session only through the platform, and give the learner enough notice.

  • Payment through the platform

    All teaching fees are settled through TeachyTalk. Taking money directly from a learner is not allowed.

  • Respect for privacy

    Learners’ personal information is confidential and may not be used outside the teaching process on the platform.

Teaching rules on TeachyTalk

1. General terms

  • Teaching begins once you have registered on the become a teacher page and the TeachyTalk team has reviewed and approved your teaching background.
  • Your profile details — education, certificates and teaching experience — must be accurate and genuine. False information ends the partnership.
  • Each teacher has one account only, and is responsible for everything done through it.
  • The partnership page describes the other models — institutes, organisations and media.

2. Teaching commitments and class quality

  • Have a clear plan for each session, and shape the material around the learner’s level, goal and pace.
  • The trial session is what your teaching is judged on — run it with the same care and preparation as a paid one.
  • Track the learner’s progress regularly and give clear, constructive feedback.
  • Any material you use must respect authors’ rights and intellectual-property law.

3. Attendance, scheduling and running classes

  • Start classes at the booked time and spend the full session teaching.
  • Keep your availability calendar up to date, so learners can only book times you can genuinely teach.
  • Before each session, check that your internet is stable, your microphone and camera work, and your teaching space is suitable.
  • If a technical problem or something unforeseen comes up, tell support through the platform as soon as possible.

4. Cancellations, lateness and rescheduling

Cancelling or moving a class is done only through the TeachyTalk platform.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, say so through the platform as far in advance as you can, so the learner has time to re-plan.
  • Repeated or last-minute cancellations, and a pattern of lateness, affect how your profile is shown and whether the partnership continues.
  • If a learner does not show up, follow the process set out in the platform — do not make the session up outside the system.

5. Professional conduct and contact with learners

  • Treating every learner respectfully is required. Discrimination, insults or inappropriate behaviour end the partnership.
  • Contact with learners — messages, arrangements and the sessions themselves — must happen on the platform.
  • Exchanging personal contact details in order to move classes off the platform breaches these rules.
  • The classroom must stay safe and focused on teaching; avoid subjects unrelated to the learner’s goals.

6. Payment and settlement

  • Learners pay through the platform’s secure gateways, and the teacher’s share is settled on the schedule shown in your panel.
  • Taking money directly from a learner — cash or a bank transfer — is not permitted for any reason.
  • Details of completed sessions and your settlement history are visible in the teacher panel. If something does not match, raise it with support.

7. Privacy and learners’ information

  • Learners’ personal information — name, contact details and learning history — is confidential and may only be used to carry out teaching on the platform.
  • Recording sessions or publishing class content without the learner’s informed consent and the platform’s agreement is not permitted.
  • The privacy page explains how user information is collected and stored.

8. Tips for teaching well

These habits help your profile grow on TeachyTalk:

  • Reply to learners’ messages as quickly as you can — fast replies weigh heavily when someone is choosing a teacher.
  • Keep your profile complete: an intro video, a description of your method and an up-to-date history all earn learners’ trust.
  • At the end of each session, go over what was achieved and what comes next.
  • Take learner feedback seriously and use it to improve how you teach.

9. Breaches and updates to these rules

  • Depending on how serious it is, breaching these rules leads to a warning, a temporary suspension of your profile, or the end of the partnership. You will be told the outcome of any review.
  • If you disagree with a decision, use the contact page to request a review.
  • TeachyTalk may update these rules. The current version is always published at this address, and continuing to teach means you accept it.
